Dennis Rader Now: BTK Killer Cleared as a Suspect in 1990 Murder

Missouri police have determined that convicted murderer Dennis Rader, known as the infamous BTK Killer, had no involvement in the 1990 killing of Shawna Beth Garber.

Authorities had named Rader, 79, the prime suspect in the 22-year-old’s death this past August.

But on March 21, the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office announced Rader is no longer considered a suspect. Instead, officials believe Talfey Reeves, who died in November 2021 at age 58, kidnapped and murdered Garber 34 years ago.

Her remains were discovered outside an abandoned farmhouse in December 1990, but it wasn’t until March 2021 that DNA technology revealed Garber’s identity.
